Intel 8086 PIN OUT

All pins are TTL compatible.8086 operate in 2 mode.Minimum mode and Maximum mode.
Minimum mode:Uni-processor system with single 8086.
Maximum mode:Multiprocessor system with more 8086.
Pin 33 is used to selet both. This pin names as MN/(MX bar) ,is used to select both mode.If we connect pin33 to high ,Then 8086 act as minimum mode.
In the minimum mode, single 8086 support few devices that use the system bus.In this mode control signal like INTA,ALE,DT/R,M/IO,WR,HLDA,HOLD and RD are generated by the 8086 and made available pin-24 through 32.
In the maximum mode MN/MX pin is held low to support the multi-processor system. In this mode a bus controller is added to the 8086/8088 to provide bus controls and compatibility to the multi-bus architecture. This bus controller decode 3 inputs,S0,S1, and S2 which are available at pins 26 through 28,and generate the control signals INTA compliment,ALE ,DT/R compliment,IO/M compliment ,WR compliment,HLDA,HOLD .In the maximum mode ,the 8088 or 8086 is much more powerful processor .This mode is used where multiplexed operations are required or where bus arbitration is used.Bus arbitration is required for multiprocessor applications. One should not be confused with the word minimum.IT can address 1 MB of memory locations in either mode.We must remember here that MN/MX compliment must be either connected to high or low.
